The Airlie Beach Hotel has been officially recognised as one of Queensland's most generous community supporters.
The hotel won the 2008 Queensland Hospitality Association's Award for Excellence in the Most Outstanding Community Service and Achievement for 100+ employees.
In the qualifying 2007/2008 financial year, the Airlie Beach Hotel donated over $72,000 in cash and in-kind sponsorships to local organisations.
Sponsorships were not restricted to particular sectors, with donations going to the arts, sporting clubs, schools, charities and events.
Airlie Beach Hotel General Manager Mark Bell said:
"The local community is a big supporter of the hotel, and this award recognises us as being big supporters of the community.
"We believe that providing sponsorships to local groups is a great way for us to give something back.
"Whether it's for an event that will boost visitors to the region, or for the local rugby league team to boost their season, we love to help worthy causes where we can."
This latest award adds to the hotel's impressive list of recent industry accolades, including two state awards in the Queensland Restaurant and Catering Awards, and being listed as a Finalist in the Hotel Club's Best Hotels in Queensland award.
